She moved to Los Angeles when she was 17, to attend the Musicians Institute for Vocals. After three Californian years, she returned to her Dutch roots and released her debut album here in 2012. Dutch-American singer-songwriter Rachèl Louise won the ‘Utrecht Popprijs’ and was named ‘Serious Talent’ by national radio station 3FM.

Rachèl developed her musical career as a songwriter for a variety of artists, and by playing percussion, keys and singing backing vocals with Dutch artist Dotan. For her solo EP, she worked together with Norwegian producers Odd Martin Skålnes and Magnus Skylstad who gained their reputation from the breakthrough of the band Aurora. Rachèl Louise also toured the Netherlands together with the band Causes. You might know her songs ‘Keep your heart’ and ‘Far Away’ from her EP ‘Big Girls’. She writes together with her brother Colin Lee, who is also the drummer in the band. Currently she is writing for her second album and also focussing on writing for and with others. At TEDxMaastricht Rachèl Louise will treat us with a selection of her extraordinary songs.
