Her areas of interest include women, peace and security particularly in relation to Refugees and IDPS. She is deeply concerned about the challenges Europe is faced with and worked to create a law clinic for refugees at the Law Faculty during her studies in Maastricht.

Michel is the inventor and architect of the Maankwartier in his hometown Heerlen. This much-discussed project is transforming the area around the train station into a citadel, thus creating a new connection between the north and south parts of town. Michel is also renowned for his machine-like sculptures.

When he was asked about why people should come listen to his talk, his response was quite surprising: He said that we should listen to him speak because he is not really an expert in his field. Given that there is already an over-abundance of incredible TED talks by inspiring figures, Mark thinks that it might be interesting if someone completely unqualified was given an opportunity to address the TEDx crowd. After all, if we don't listen - even to voices that we might not agree with or deem worthy - we might never change our perspective.

Roos Vonk is a professor of social psychology at Radboud University Nijmegen, a published author of several bestseller books, columnist, coach, and educator. In addition, she is dedicated to improving animal welfare and sustainability. She not afraid to speak up for what she believes in, even if this has gotten her into trouble on a few occasions.

Out of more than 125 pitch applicants Margo’s story was voted as one of the two favourites by the 200 person strong crowd attending the TEDxMaastricht Pitch Night. The curation team of TEDxMaastricht was also very impressed and decided to grant Margo the opportunity to speak on our local TEDxMaastricht stage.
