Leaving our comfort zones can be a daunting experience, laced with fear, uncertainty, and ambiguity. However, the 2016 edition of TEDxYouth@Maastricht, held on the 12th of March at Rebelle in the heart of Maastricht, aimed to tackle this formidable task, and inspire the youth of today to step “Out of Bounds”, toward a brighter and more fulfilling tomorrow.

Our amazing panel of speakers, from all walks of life, and corners of the globe, presented their unique experiences, successes and failures, on topics spanning from travelling, to music and rap, to education, to art, and many more, creating a holistic and expansive atmosphere for the spreading of diverse ideas (biographies of all speakers can be found on our website). There was a topic of interest for everyone, and amidst the excitement, buzz and thrill, especially our speakers, it was an incredibly rewarding journey for all. Performances during intervals sprouted fresh ideas, our breaks became intuitive discussion sessions for the audience, facilitating a platform for participants to share their newly gained insight with their peers, and come away with newfound confidence, clarity and connections. The audience, including over 200 participants from UWC Maastricht, our sister UWC colleges, and other local schools in the region, came away feeling enriched, and empowered to make a change in the world around them. Exciting workshops, held for our younger participants, sparked creativity and collaboration, bringing the TEDx spirit to our primary students. TEDxYouth@Maastricht truly was a fruitful day for our entire audience.

Organised extensively by students from United World College Maastricht, it was a challenging process putting together such a large scale event, but as the event drew to a close, naturally resulted in an incomparable sense of satisfaction, and accomplishment felt by the whole team.

Photos of the event are progressively being published to the TEDxYouth@Maastricht Facebook page and website, and videos of all the talks will be published to YouTube in the coming days.

We look forward to your participation in TEDxYouth@Maastricht 2017!
